Southern Stars Section Drive & Dine via a St. Johns River coastal drive, to Ford’s Garage in St. Augustine!
Nearly three dozen members joined us to dine at Ford’s Garage restaurant in St. Augustine after most members met us in the Julington Creek area of Jacksonville, FL to commence about a 45-minute scenic drive! It was a beautiful day, and many convertibles had their tops down for an even better view!
Ford’s Garage has the vibe of a 1920s service station including vintage Ford vehicles, gas pumps, and fixtures. Many more unique features, too numerous to list, really make the Garage a fun place to visit and take pictures. They are a gourmet burger bar serving up the finest varieties of Black Angus Beef, Turkey, Chicken, and Vegetarian products coupled with all-natural aged cheeses and gourmet toppings.
We enjoyed meeting our new section President Gary Keener, our new Regional Director David Wommer, and our outgoing Regional Director and current historian, Hank Webb. Board members Carlos Malpartida and Jeff Rotatori were also present, and some new members who joined just a week prior, when we were at the Jacksonville International Auto Show at the Prime Osborn Convention Center (See our other Event Report if you missed it!)
We look forrard to The Amelia’s “Cars & Community” this coming Saturday, which includes Cars & Caffeine, RADwood, Concours d’Lemons, a kids zone and a beer garden!

Beginning around 7:00 am, Club leadership will begin to assemble in the “Central Lot” at Caffeine and Octane Jacksonville, to prepare for the event starting at 8:00 am and welcome fellow Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts. Aim for gate #3, to the slight left of the “Exotics Lot” if approaching from the Southside Blvd main entrance. Vehicles that cannot remain in the Central Lot from 8:00 -11:00 AM are asked to park in the Exhibit Lot for easier entry and departure.
If you do not bring your beverages, there are options galore! Chick-fil-A and restrooms in the Avenues Mall food court will open early for Caffeine and Octane attendees at 7:30 am. (Yes, they serve coffee!)
