Southern Stars Section attended the Caffeine and Octane Jacksonville Event!
In January, local Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts attended the first Caffeine and Octane Jacksonville event of 2023, and there were a lot of jackets and gloves in tow, as temperatures were between 37°-48° F.
We had a fantastic mix of classic and modern Mercedes-Benz vehicles in attendance! There was an AMG GT R Black Series and an AMG GT that braved the cool weather to join us!
The most unique Mercedes-Benz shared was a 1-of-7 2001 R129 SL 500 “Formula 1 Edition”. These were introduced before the 2002 “Silver Arrow” edition and are much rarer.
It is 1-of-4 that remained in the United States after three were sent back to Germany after being introduced in the United States. This is also the first vehicle, with the “1” Formula One official tag! (See photos!) What a rare treat to see!
We shared how you can put a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van to work, with an appearance by Official Mobile Barber, in his stylish Sprinter, complete with entertainment and barber poles! Many people enjoyed taking a brief tour of the Sprinter and talking to the owner, Walter Darias, who runs www.OFFICIALMobileBarber.com & https://www.instagram.com/officialmobilebarber/
We also had a big-body “VIP-style” W140-chassis S 420, a sweet CLS 55 AMG, and a gorgeous SLC 43 AMG. We had a modified Polar W204 White C 250 coupe, a 1998 silver SL 500, Quartz Blue CLK 430 coupe. A sweet S 550 Coupe was shared, as well as GLE 63 S-Model Coupe, (What a beautiful beast!). Section President Dave Wommer shared his 2009 SL 63, and Section Vice President Gary Keener shared his gorgeous 2014 CLS 550 and braved the wind to put up the Mercedes-Benz and AMG flags to help everyone find our group! We enjoyed meeting enthusiasts and seeing some sweet rides! A hearty THANK YOU to everyone who braved the cold weather to make the event a success!

Beginning around 7:00 am, Club leadership will begin to assemble in the “Central Lot” at Caffeine and Octane Jacksonville, to prepare for the event starting at 8:00 am and welcome fellow Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts. Aim for gate #3, to the slight left of the “Exotics Lot” if approaching from the Southside Blvd main entrance. Vehicles that cannot remain in the Central Lot from 8:00 -11:00 AM are asked to park in the Exhibit Lot for easier entry and departure.
If you do not bring your beverages, there are options galore! Chick-fil-A and restrooms in the Avenues Mall food court will open early for Caffeine and Octane attendees at 7:30 am. (Yes, they serve coffee!)
