Southern Star Section hosted our 2022 Holiday Event at the Eagle Harbor Golf Club near Jacksonville, FL.
Over two dozen members joined us for our annual holiday luncheon this year, held at the Eagle Harbor Golf clubhouse, set right on the golf course with great views!
Regional Director Hank Webb presented this year’s Southeast Region’s Officer of the Year award to Section President David Wommer, who has written and distributed our newsletter since 2020. David Wommer is also the Southern Stars social media content creator, posting at least once every weekday this past year. He has implemented multiple no-contact payment methods for section events and sponsor payments.
Regional Director Hank Webb spoke about our Member of the Year Jackie Keener, our Section Treasurer, and a plaque and a lapel/hat pin were awarded. Jackie Keener has been our Treasurer since 2019, designed graphics and flyers for us, has arranged some of our amazing Drive & Dines, and helped arrange vendors and event spaces for multiple events! Thank you very much, Jackie, we couldn’t have done it without you!
We presented 5 anniversary year certificates of appreciation and lapel pins to those in attendance, celebrating two 30-year memberships, two 25-year memberships, and one 15-year membership. We also mailed out two 40-year membership appreciation certificates and lapel pins, and two 25-year membership appreciation certificates and lapel pins to those who were unable to attend the luncheon this year.
We celebrated the members in attendance who had the longest duration of membership as well as the newest Member in attendance! David Le Roy has been a member for a few weeks shy of 38 years, and our newest member in attendance was Margaret Briesch, who jumped right in and registered her SL 500 for the Ponte Vedra Auto Show a few days after becoming a member!

Beginning around 7:00 am, Club leadership will begin to assemble in the “Central Lot” at Caffeine and Octane Jacksonville to prepare for the event starting at 8:00 am and welcome fellow Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts. Aim for gate #3, to the slight left of the “Exotics Lot” if approaching from the Southside Blvd main entrance. Vehicles that cannot remain in the Central Lot from 8:00 -11:00 AM are asked to park in the Exhibit Lot for easier entry and departure.
If you do not bring your beverages, there are options galore! Chick-fil-A and restrooms in the Avenues Mall food court will open early for Caffeine and Octane attendees at 7:30 am. (Yes, they serve coffee!)

We will welcome 2023 with an ocean-front breakfast at Omni Amelia Island Resort with a great view of the Atlantic Ocean and an opportunity to break bread with current and new members with an amazing view in our very own dining room.
