Southern Stars Section attended the Caffeine and Octane Jacksonville Event!
In December, we were the First Coast Car Council’s (FCCC) Featured Car Club of the Month and had reserved parking in the FCCC Car Corral! We issued a challenge to our members and local Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts to beat the number of toys that we brought last year for Toys for Tots, and boy did Mercedes-Benz owners deliver! This year, the toy drive was for Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
A photo of our enormous toy haul (There were many not seen in the photo) was even featured as the primary photo on the official photography page of Caffeine and Octane Jacksonville! A couple of enthusiasts even brought a trunk full of toys, and some gave us toys in recent months that could not make it the event! Thank you, everyone, for your amazing generosity! We’ll be back next year to challenge ourselves again!
We had an amazing variety of Mercedes-Benz in the car corral and throughout the event! We saw everything from Lew’s 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren to a freshly acquired reveal of Mike's 2019 AMG GT C in our VIP area! A fan favorite was a 1968 250 SE Coupe in a beautiful green.
MBCA Members also brought a one-owner custom-ordered final year, 2006 E320 CDI with factory AMG enhancements, a well-traveled 1993 400 E with 376K miles and counting, with a 500,000 High-kilometer badge and certificate! We also saw a gorgeous 560 SEC (S-Class Coupe), a like-new 2011 AMG G 55, and a 1974 450 SL in light blue, the closest we came to “ … a ’54 convertible too, in light blue …” from the “Santa Baby” song, we were only 20 years off!
Our favorite thing, though, was the Mercedes-Benz owners being extremely generous! Thank you to everyone who shared their Mercedes-Benz vehicles with us. It was great to hang out with fellow enthusiasts for the morning! A hearty THANK YOU to everyone who made the toy drive a huge success, which will bring many smiles to deserving children dealing with medical complications who may not be able to spend the holidays at home.

Beginning around 7:00 am, Club leadership will begin to assemble in the “Central Lot” at Caffeine and Octane Jacksonville, to prepare for the event starting at 8:00 am and welcome fellow Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts. Aim for gate #3, to the slight left of the “Exotics Lot” if approaching from the Southside Blvd main entrance. Vehicles that cannot remain in the Central Lot from 8:00 -11:00 AM are asked to park in the Exhibit Lot for easier entry and departure.
If you do not bring your beverages, there are options galore! Chick-fil-A and restrooms in the Avenues Mall food court will open early for Caffeine and Octane attendees, at 7:30 am. (Yes, they serve coffee!)

Our next members-only event:
We will welcome in 2023 with an ocean-front breakfast at Omni Amelia Island Resort with a great view of the Atlantic Ocean, and an opportunity to break bread with current and new members with an amazing view in our very own dining room.
