Ponte Vedra Beach
Florida

Southern Stars Section attended the Caffeine and Octane Jacksonville Event!

We had a great variety of Mercedes-Benz vehicles registers and shown at the 2021 Ponte Vedra Auto Show, including a variety of vintage and modern muscle Mercedes-Benz vehicles in attendance! We had two 1971 V8 280 SE cabriolets. Just over 1200 were produced, and here we had two in the show, what a treat! One of them was a gorgeous blue, the other a beautiful Light Ivory, originally purchased by Hollywood Squares Center Square Paul Lynde!

Two of our oldest Mercedes-Benz cars shared were a black 1958 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE cabriolet with burgundy interior, and a silver 1961 190 SL roadster with cognac interior. We had 4 additional SLs, an anthracite gray 1971 280 SL, a 1983 380 SL in light blue, 1987 560 SL in light cream, and a 2005 SL 500 in Diamond Silver Metallic! We had one more convertible, a palladium gray 2012 SLK 350 roadster that was a favorite!

We also had two new high-end AMG cars, a 2019 Mercedes-AMG S 63 Cabriolet, as well as a RENNtech-tuned Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S (“Coupe”) shared by our newest MBCA Southern Stars Member! We also had a 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG roadster and a rarely seen 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK 55 AMG Cabriolet!

We showed everyone how sleek a 4-door coupe car could be with an Iridium Silver 2014 CLS 550, and had a modern-day E-Class cabriolet, a 2012 E 550, to serve as a modern equivalent to the black 1958 220 SE Cabriolet, 54 years younger! The largest Mercedes-Benz Cabriolet in 1958 was the S-Class “equivalent”, the 1958 300 Sc).

All in all, we had 20 cars registered, and 11 convertibles lined up next to each other, around a corner with the 1958 220 SE serving as the centerpiece! What are the odds?

This year, Mercedes-Benz owners took home the Best of Show award (1961 190 SL), two Best of Class Awards (Best “European Classic”, Blue 1972 280 SE 3.5L Cabriolet; “Best of Europe”, 2009 SL 63), and a Mercedes-Benz Club of America Member won “Outstanding Classic Porsche” for his 1965 Porsche 356 SC in Irish Green, with just 51,000 miles! We were quite happy with the appreciation!

The 2021 Ponte Vedra Auto Show was a fantastic event, and thank you to all the sponsors, judges, volunteers, and vehicle enthusiasts who took the time to share their automobiles and ownership stories!

We hope to attend 2022 with even more great history, and to share the passion with kids “young and old”! If you know of a fantastic Mercedes-Benz, we would love to have it shared! Keep an eye on the www.PVautoshow.com in July 2022 to start registering your vehicles or get in touch with us to remind you then!
